Jambo63 Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Have been listening to Kings of Leons new album, absolutely love Sex on Fire, the bassline is so good. This will be my first song to learn for 2009, nothing to to with my band but just a good song to learn Quote
Stylon Pilson Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 My first of 2009 was "I Will Possess Your Heart" by Death Cab For Cutie. S.P. Quote
CHRISDABASS Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 right now im learning Sophie Ellis-Bextor's murder on the dance floor (played by Guy Pratt) its a great bassline! real fun to play! ooh and its in issue 40 jan/feb of Bass Guitar Magazine!! Quote
Faithless Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Oh, and my first bassline was by Skamp - Music (We love), the one I'm doing for audition... Seems pretty easy one, but the main groove, that goes during verses and choruses is quite tricky, believe me... Here's band's-made 10 year anniversary video with this song.. ednaplate Posted January 2, 2009 Author Posted January 2, 2009 [quote name='Linus27' post='368187' date='Jan 2 2009, 01:05 AM']Here you go. This is the last one I learn't to play. Sorry I don't smile much in the video but there is a story behind that. For the last 20 years I have only ever played with a plectrum. I gave up bass for around 5 years and when I started up again at the end of 2007, I decided to learn to use my fingers so this is my first ever complete song I have played using fingers. So basically I am concentrating lots. Oh, plus I am playing on a fretless which is also my first song on a fretless. If you want any tips on the song then just ask. It's very good. I have a tab for this somewhere. Must dig it out. Quote

neepheid Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Well, apart from doing some exercises, I suppose it's my usual "finger loosener" - Rat Race by The Specials. First bass picked up in 2009 is - the cherry red EB-3 Quote

Starvolt Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Dead Star by Muse, the timing is a bit awkward for me, but I've pretty much got it. Oh, and if your Sex is on fire, then the chances are you have got herpies or something similar. Quote

xgsjx Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 First thing I played was one of my own basslines thru the MuRF. As was the 2nd, 3rd & 4th. First known bassline I played this year was Use Me by Bill Withers thru the MuRF as it's the only song we cover regularly. Sounded interesting. Quote

I'll have to try What Is Hip? sometime - great 'excercise' for articulation, no doubt Quote
redzombie Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Today I finally got around to learning Interstate Love Song, after about 15 years of listening to the song. I'm a lazy bastard. Quote
