bassmachine2112
hiho, anybody put a seymour duncan quarter pounder in a vintage v4 precision copy and do you think it is worthwhile. by all acounts the wilkinson pups n stuff is decent gear. There has been a lot of advertising for these basses with endorsments flying around but are they as good as they say they are or do the artists get selected models-ie handbuilt or selected with upgraded bits. So far after a good set up I am happy with this bass and will be taking it out on the road along with ricky . I,ll keep you posted on how it goes. PVTele
All the credible reports I've heard about these basses makes them sound very good indeed. I'm seriously considering one myself for blues gigs. Personally, I'd leave the installed Wilkinson be for a while, and see how it goes. If you find any real deficiencies on the road, you could always drop in a Quarterpounder later - they are superb pickups, no doubt of that. Let us know how it goes
bassmachine2112
hiho,I can,t believe myself how good these basses are for the money especially if you get one secondhand as i did. I,ve come across these pick ups made in Wales called Wizard. These look like they are the ones and they are cheaper than seymours. Yeh I will leave alone for the moment and see how they pan out. PVTele
Just checked out the Wizard site - that Area 51 looks interesting - knockout name for a bass pickup, too
noirpunk
Definitely do it. They're a great playing bass and they sound good enough anyway, I can only imagine how brilliant it would sound with a quarter pounder. By the way, these artist endorsements - no custom stuff done whatsoever. Mine is stock and standard.

Hamster
I have one - they're excellent VFM. I have a Wizard Thumper waiting to be installed in place of the stock Wilkinson - I'll post an A/B in the reviews section when I get round to it . Faithless
Noirpunk, maybe a stupide questie, but are you allowed to change such stuff like pups on your 'endorsement' bass?
