OldGit
I'm in Cardiff if you'd like me to go and have a look ... No great expert on JV P basses but I have owned one a few years ago and I've played a few, and many Fenders .
mathewsanchez
That would be great if you could, as long as it's not too much trouble. If it's legit and doesn't sell it will no doubt be relisted so there should be some time. The guy seems genuine through his description but that zero feedback really scares me. Hamster
It's not laid out or presented too bad for a "first" ebay ad? Maybe the seller is good with IT etc - my first ebay ad was crappy. Looks like a nice bass - maybe we can get it safely to it's prospective new owner between us?
warwickhunt
Just out of interest are you expecting to get it for £395? Someone may well be going around to see it and they could be wasting their time... why not wait and see if you win it? If you are the winning high bidder then someone can check it out for you, if it isn't as the seller described then don't pay and neg them, if it is what it appears then pay them. I'm not trying to rain on your parade but you could be building yourself up (and potentially wasting someones time) for a fall if this bass ends up going for stupid money to someone in Europe. Just sayin'!

(save for the fact that Mrs OldGit is on call and in work all weekend) Nowhere is that far in Cardiff, it's not a huge place, and meeting a fellow bass person in the area is always helpful for my depping network .... drewie
Hi all, I'm the seller of this bass, so if anyone has any questions I'll be happy to answer them. I've been a member here for a little while, but rarely visit. The reason for my very recent registration on Ebay is that I just haven't bothered before. Anything that I have bought or sold in the past has been through family or friends. I have a few things I want to sell on at the mo, so rather than burden them with it all I have registered myself. I can very well understand somebodies reluctance to bid on the bass for that reason. Good to speak with you Simon (Old Git) earlier - hope to see you at The Claude in March. All the best, Paul Edited January 3, 2009 by drewie

Was your bass modified in any way? The previous owner of my bass stated that it is a 57. It could be that they are the original knobs after all... Bassassin
Lots of pics & info about JVs here: http://www.21frets.com/ It should be possible to work out what's original & what's not from the pics on the site. Lovely looking bass anyway. Jon.

The ones fitted to my bass are the rounded type, and were on there when I bought it. Unfortunately, I can't be any more certain of their provenance than that, so I really shouldn't speculate further. It's a great bass that I hope will go to a player who enjoys playing it. Edited January 4, 2009 by drewie

Real and re-issue 62 P basses had flat tops. Same as the Telecaster (guitar) knobs. Parts bin economies I guess. As you mentioned in your eBay description the previous owner may have changed the pots to go with the EMG's and thus the knobs too. It's probably a splined shaft/solid shaft thing ..
