7string Posted July 6, 2008 Posted July 6, 2008 This is the worst bit of the waiting. So close but yet so far..... Quote
BigRedX Posted August 20, 2008 Author Posted August 20, 2008 The bass is finished and I'll be off the collect it tomorrow! For those (like me) who are impatient you can see pics on the Sei Bass site here. There'll be a full review etc sometime in the next week... Quote

urb Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Mmmmm - that's why these babies are worth the wait and the money... Another awesome bass from Martin Peterson - massive congrats - I know you will absolutely love it, my single cut just keeps feeling better and better and the wow factor on gigs and from other bass players is really nice - it sounds and plays great too. Have fun. Mike Quote
7string Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 It's an incredible bass and they're not even the best photos Quote
RIM Basses Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Hat off to Martin, thats one sweet bass bud, enjoy! Quote
BigRedX Posted August 22, 2008 Author Posted August 22, 2008 Thanks everyone. The bass is even better than I imagined it could be... Full report sometime over the weekend after I've been able to try it through my rig and take loads of photos Although don't expect me back for while... Quote
Brave Sir Robin Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 (edited) a true work of art! You have high rez versions of them pictures? Edited August 23, 2008 by Brave Sir Robin Quote
BigRedX Posted August 23, 2008 Author Posted August 23, 2008 Those photos are off the Sei web site. I'll be taking some of my own just as soon as I get some decent natural light. Please be patient...(if you can!) Quote
BigRedX Posted August 31, 2008 Author Posted August 31, 2008 Finally... photographs. The light was far from brilliant hence the poor depth of field on some of the shots but it the best I've had here all week. I'll take some better ones when the opportunity arises, but here at last for your viewing pleasure... Quote
eude Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 WOW! That is absolutely gorgeous mate, congratulations! Eude Quote
BigRedX Posted August 31, 2008 Author Posted August 31, 2008 Thanks! I'll get some better pictures up just as soon as there's some sun (sometime in the new year then!) and hopefully some sound clips later in the week. I have to say that this bass has the best B-string of any bass I've ever played and the most consistent tone from one string to another which means that a couple of the songs my band does have just got loads easier to play as I don't have to make massive jumps up and down the neck to ensure I got the best sounding notes. urb Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Holy sh!t man - that looks stunning... really and truly some of the best custom made basses anywhere in the world... come right out of little old Camden town. I'm getting a Sei jazz next - more details coming soon - but once again Red - HUGE congrats - that's a very special bass you have there. M Quote
thedontcarebear Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 That is probably the best looking build I've seen on here. Quote
Teddy_Hitch Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 that is looking SO Sweeeeeet! you are going to be a happy kid! Quote
BigRedX Posted August 31, 2008 Author Posted August 31, 2008 Thanks guys! It gets it's first serious use on Wednesday when Gosh! start rehearsing with our new guitarist and I'll have a chance to play at volume through my rig. Alan - the ACG pre in this is outstanding! It sounds good in the Pedulla but in this bass its something else. Plenty of deep bass but still with the fretless singing tone all at the same time. Wonderful! Quote
Alpha-Dave Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Wow! The colour combination is a superb choice, and the board/ramp/p'ups look like they are a great playing surface. Quote
7string Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 That's a mighty fine bass. Mighty fine indeed Quote
Brave Sir Robin Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008
Wow! The colour combination is a superb choice, and the board/ramp/p'ups look like they are a great playing surface.
Love the colour too. Amber and Ash Kind of reminds me of a custom Ritter, but nicer (I love the Sei shape). Quote
BigRedX Posted September 1, 2008 Author Posted September 1, 2008 Thanks everyone... The fingerboard/pup/ramp surface is working very well and is definitely going to help improve my technique since I'll be forced to use a lighter touch as my default playing style. At the moment I have a tendency to dig in as soon as the music gets exciting which means that my fingers are tired by the end of some of our faster songs... The colours have worked out very well, despite some reservations by the finishers in the end they came through and delivered an outstanding looking instrument. Ritter was one of the luthiers I had in mind when I was deciding on who would be building this bass. Getting the Sei hasn't stopped me GASing for a Raptor though! Quote
MrT-Bass Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Wow...Simply beautiful....congratulations. Quote
