Faithless
Sorry, if this has been asked before, I simply couldn't find it via search, so here's the thing... Bass is Cort C4, tuned standartly from E to G, but mate wants it tuned from B to D... He's planning to use Warwick Darklord strings (65-85-105-135). He doubts, if the standart nut is going to 'accept' such heavy strings.. He also doubted about tuners' and bridge's stability - what about that also? I've never had any bussiness with it, and couldn't comment about all this, so, I hope, you guys would help us.. Cheers, Faith.
bass_ferret
Nut needs to be recut for the thicker strings. Might need a tweak on the trussrod. Everything else should be OK.
~tl
Probably need to adjust the intonation at the bridge as well...
clauster
Agree with both of the above - both should be addressed with a proper set-up job. Can't see why the bridge and tuners should have any stability issues. Works perfectly well on the Warwick Corvette Taranis
MacDaddy
Used my old Sub as BEAD. No probs. As above sort the nut, it's possible the bridge saddle may have to be routed, a set up may involve a slightly higher action.
Mr. Foxen
As longs as the nut is cut, and the setup is done, no probs at all. I play 4 strings tuned ADGC with strings from .145 to .070, not sure of the inbetween 2,might be good to keep the old nut as is, and get a new one to make big slots in. I think the Dark Lord strings are taped, so saddle raising might be needed, no biggie.
Faithless
Just re-sended all this stuff to my friend, hope, this helps Cheers everyone, Knew, I could rely on BC Faith. BTW, I think, it's quite frequent questie, and, hard-to-find- via search (for me it was, anyway..), so maybe we should make this sticky? All in all, it covers not only going from EADG to BEAD, but, tuning change in general, so that's the point, i think.. Adrenochrome
I've done this before. IF the nut slots are 'V' shaped it MIGHT be possible to try it without modifying the nut. Also, when adjusting the intonation you might run out of room when taking the saddle back for the new B string.
