Stringray Bass Pot (3 Band EQ)

Hi

Wonder if anyone can help.

The bass pot on my SR4 is not turing as smoothly as it should. What can I use to lubricate it? Is it an easy job? Or will it need a new pot?

Ideally I would like to do it myself to save a bit of cash - is there something i can just squirt into it?

First port of call should be Servisol switch & contact cleaner, good stuff.

cool. how much do I need to take it apart by - or can I just take the pot off and let some get in down the shaft....as it were?

Just pop the control plate off and squirt it in any opening into the pot, twisting as you squirt to work the dirt/dead skin/bacon butty fat/dried beer etc out of it.

I thinkit is a bit more serious, as the above is not improving things.

I reckon the pot needs replacing, but can I just replace the bass pot, or do I need to replace the whole pre? Forgive me if this is a really stoopid question?

are you sure that the bottom of the knob isn't rubbing on the control plate like i suggested on the EBMM forum?

Don't know about you but I've always found that the tone knobs on the 3 eq MM's (I've had two 3 eq Rays and a Sterling) were never anywhere near as smooth as the 2eq ray I had.
