misterdistortion
I'm sure this has been asked before but... I've recently acquired a rather lovely Dingwall NG2 5 string second hand and I spent a fair bit of last night setting it up but, it could do with a new set of strings. Are there alternatives to the Dingwall sets available from Bass Direct, bearing in mind the low B is 37''? Cheers, C
Bobthedog
Bass Direct also sell Payson strings for the Dingwall. They are a little different in gauge but should work. I did speak to both Mark at BD and Sheldon Dingwall at the LBGS at the same time and they both thought some work on the nut may be needed. I passed at that point but Payson are an alternative.
mhlvanhalen
You can also look at Newtone strings in the UK i always order from them and they can make any string gauge you want. what the benefit from Newtone is you can choose what string core you want hex or round.
Lunatique
I bought Payson flats recently and they work perfectly fine ony NG-2 5-string. No issues at the nut. The winding is extraordinarily smooth--feels almost like the strings are sheathed in smooth plastic. CameronJ
Dunlop recently started producing a version of their Superbrights designed for Dingwall scale lengths. I believe Bass Direct have just got them in stock.
