Leftbass Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 (edited) TRADED Lefty, Lefthanded Warwick Corvette, French Violet, 2004. Formerly owned by Throwoff and Leftyhook. This is a nice bass, better than a 2008 model I had but that may have been because that was passive, tho the neck is slightly thicker. Swamp ash body, Ovangkol neck with wenge fretboard Active tone control passive MEC pickups. It's had a set up and plays well and the warwick strings are fairly new. It's a fairly unique colour as far as I've seen on this forum. See pics. £400 plus £20 for a courier insured. Comes in Warwick gig bag. Edited October 11, 2012 by Leftbass

And any colour on a Corvette is rare, 9 out of 10 just have a natural oil finish. This one looks a lot more desireable!

patch006 Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 (edited) This bass is made by a firm called Schwalbe, 4 string fretless www.schwalbe-bass.de/ Body = Ovangkol, maple , walnut top and back Neck = Maple and walnut Semour duncan quarter pounders 2 x volume 1x tone passive. This really is a top notch bass that sounds exactly how a fretless should with the sliver of maple for the fret markers. For sale for £800 or trade for a good quality fretted 4 or 5. Cheers LeftyJ. Its as nice as I had hoped. Its going to Glasgow with me tomorrow to see if it can have a fender gold anodised pickguard converted and fitted. Ive spoken to Wolf of 'wolfsmusicweekly' who has a fine collection of lefty fender basses and he has done this on several basses so it might be a 'goer'. Failing this I hope to make a copy of the current plastic control plate in metal. I will post my progress and may try for both options as both seem feasible at the moment. Just a matter of cost.

Carlos Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 That's the cheapest rick I have seen. Amazing price. Half the price it should be.
LeftyJ Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 No, all the others cost double what they should be Don't get me wrong, not trying to diss Rickenbacker here. I had a 2008 mapleglo 4003 that I loved. But they're completely hyped! And their so called 'rarity' (there's usually one or two on eBay at any given time) has driven the prices up to crazy levels, especially when Rickenbacker announced they would stop producing lefties for a while. Just rediculous! I bought mine brand new for 1400 Pounds and a couple of months later I could easily have sold it at over 2000 Pounds. The market is completely nuts!
Carlos Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 Yes agreed, that's what I meant. They're good, but it's only rarity that has driven their price so high for lefties.
