I'm looking for a vintage Fender Jazz (between 1970 and 1980), not fussed on condition of just aslong as it works - can anyone help me or point me in a good direction?
YAY another lefty shuker owner ;)
Can I ask the bleedin' obvious, and ask how a Shuker jazz/p-bass copy differs from the original/modern incarnations from Fender? Sound, feel - that type of thing.

Sorry, just curious about these "super-J" types

Thanks

Here's a '77, for about £2k:

Seems a highly trustworthy fella IMO ;)

Afternoon,

I have been looking at this thread and logging onto internet banking to see if any of them could find their way to my house! No use though, baby on the way.

I have a few, so will try and post pictures, none for sale at the moment as I get too attached to them, even the first ones I bought:

Tanglewood Precision Copy
Fender Squire
Wal 4-string Fretless
Patrick Eggle 5-string Milan
Name escapes me 4-string acoustic
Steinberger Headless Bodyless 4-string Aswad jobby
Schecter 5-string Diamond Series
Dan Electro 4-string short horn
Ibanez 6-string Soundgear (courtesy of Wildus!)

All left handed, there may be more but I cannot remember and will have to check.

Rock on.

Rob

Hey, what does everyone think of a lefty bass bash?
NOW YOU'RE TALKING !!! ;)

I was distraught at the SE bass last year when I was the only lefty there. It was like being a diabetic in a sweet shop :P

I used to think that a lefty bass bash could be held in a small phone box, but it seems there are enough of us to at least warrant a shed.

Wicked!

I'm in! I'd be happy to host it at my studio too; Is Cambridgeshire accessible for many here?

i honestly couldn't tell you have never played a fender. because i've never been able to find a lefty, however the main difference for me in having a shuker jazz is, its built to my specification by hand and not on a production line for not much more than a high end USA fender job,

cambridshire is the other end of the country for me, but might be persuaded to go the distance for fellow lefties! Personally I was thinking Manchesster as its quite central in the country but then again I've got no venue so that shuts me up ;)

Well that's three of us! Anyone interested in organising it?!

We could tentatively say mid-end of April, see if we can get a decent number together?

As well as my lefty Shuker J I've got an MIA P and an MIM J. They all play and sound completely different. The Shuker was made to my own specn., so has different pups (phat jazz) leds, mid range booster. It also looks and feels fantastic (IMO). I guess you'd have to play a Shuker to really appreciate the difference. I visited Jon's workshop just to have a look at his work, but he had a right handed jazz in stock, natural finish like the one he made for me, and I fell in love with it and ordered mine on the spot. Have a look at his website:

to be honest I'd be happy with anything over two people, just to try out some stuff! I've been wanting a nodle on a thumb and a rick since the dawn of time ;)

People are going to start wondering why we have the same couch in our avatars biggsy :P

Ha, I just noticed that! Quite a sharp look if you ask me :)

Right, well, I'll propose a date - Saturday April 18th in Somersham, Cambridgeshire for the lefty bass bash. We have a PA and I'll have a bass amp or two kicking around, I might even dig out the barbeque if we can pull a decent number together! I can suggest decent hotels in the area if anyone wants to have a few bevvies with me.

Get it on the opening post mate, the date is reasonably flexible, as of course is the location, if there is demand!

Sounds like a plan to me, plus its two days after my birthday so everyone wll have to get me one of their basses as a present ;)

Swift work! Reckon it's worth linking to on the first post on here, hopefully capture a few more lefties who may not frquent 'the local'?

I feel a little wrong dropping this in here as it's not a basschat bass, but I know they're as rare as hens teeth and people are always hunting for them:

PJ's in Portsmouth has a lefty Ric 4003 for sale apparently: http://www.guitaruk.com/products.php?subcatid=52&catid=3

Quite steep for a brand new one though at a shade under £1800.

SR5 i gorgeous man! Shame I've ditched 5ers now- though I always thought 5 strings looked better than 4strings but there ye go ;)

Also good ric find, like you said a tad pricey but then again if you want it bad enough etc...

Oh yeah!, overpriced IMO Though, going by other lefty SEI's i've seen for sale, speaking of which its just reminded me of the georgous SEI headless whynot used to own, the blue one

Marriage may be on the horizon for me so I might be letting the Ric' go prematurely. *sob*

I was thinking that I'd get the best return with a worldwide ebay auction, as I want a premium for its condition and vintage, but can't bring myself to advertise it at a price higher than new, even though there are equateable basses on ebay as 'Buy It Now's' for well over £2500.

What would you guys do?
