Adrenochrome Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 I don't usually like white basses but with the maple neck and tort pickguard it does have a certain purposeful look to it... Quote
Beedster Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009
Sweet. Can you do a lefty Sid clone?
I bet he can, that he can do it pretty quickly, and that it will be bloody good Quote
Buzz Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 (edited) 21 fret neck, Any intonation or fitting issues? Looks quite nice anyway. Edited January 7, 2009 by Buzz Quote
OutToPlayJazz Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 That's a really cool looking build! Just needs an ageing Fender decal now & nobody would look twice! Fantastic Quote
Pookus Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 Are you going to carve the name "Paul" in it with a flick knife? Quote
WHUFC BASS Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009
Sweet. Can you do a lefty Sid clone?
My mate has got an original '78 Precision identical to sids. He bought in the late 70s specially to look like o' Sidney Vish and even now he still looks a bit like him. Quote

No intonation problems as the last fret and fingerboard hang over the body.
That's a really cool looking build!
Are you going to carve the name "Paul" in it with a flick knife?
Bit severe ! did the original have that done to it ? My name is Paul but as a makers mark I won't be using a flick knife... Thanks everyone for the kind words and encouragement. Quote
Clarky Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 (edited) The bass that this is a copy of ended up smashed (see the iconic London Calling cover) Paul Simonon had another white P bass (which he still plays in The Good, The Bad and The Queen) with a r/w neck that he carved 'Paul' on Yours sincerely, Anorak/Clarky Edited January 7, 2009 by Clarky Quote
silverfoxnik Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 Very nice Paul.. Looks the business! I'm a fan of those Dimarzios as I have them on my '84 BC Rich Eagle and they sound great! What would a P-Bass like this cost to have built by your good self then? Quote
Clarky Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 I am now the proud owner of this beauty. Its put together fabulously, with the neatest copper shielding in the control cavity I have ever seen. Plays really well. Couldn't be happier. Quote
Clarky Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Gigged this bass tonight at the 12 Bar Club in Tin Pan Alley. Great thumping sound and, although I still struggle slightly with chunky necks (and this one is well chunky), played beautifully. PS, it seems to have mysteriously acquired a Fender 70s Precision transfer on the headstock Quote
KevinJazzBass Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 Where is that broken precision from the london calling cover? Kev Quote
