Geddys nose Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 (edited) Made in the USA in '79 for the age I would say 'good'condition with a little bit of buckle rash and a few minor dings (Mojo would be the word) The case looks near mint and is the original case (Real good quality and looks great inside)T40's have a great pickup switching system and you can get so many tones out of this it rivals a active bass for different permutations..Not looking for any trades and I would be willing to drive up to 60miles from Preston for free if required. Paul Cooke Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 oh sweet niblets... I am sorely tempted... that is so gorgeous... but sadly can't spare the cash... best of luck with the sale...
silverfoxnik Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 That's a great bass and really good value too as I think the T40s are only going to go up in value.. Wish I hadn't sold mine now! Good luck with the sale..
Geddys nose Posted January 9, 2009 Author Posted January 9, 2009 Thanks for the nice comments,They are a great bass and the quality of them is legendary.
Weird War Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Nice. I used to have one just the same. Interesting tone options. You need a good strap too as they're heavy blighters.
Geddys nose Posted January 10, 2009 Author Posted January 10, 2009 Popped the pick guard off today and found the makers sig- 1/17/79 so its 30 years old next week and must say the pick guard is in superb condition for a 30 year old bass it has also the early rectangle hardcase and not the later moulded one.
Kev Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 this is giving me a real headache! i came very close to buying a black/rosewood one a while ago, and this has come at just the right time really, but then again that ovation magnum dangerboy is selling is also very, very tempting, hmmmm!
Boneless Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 I just got one recently, it's a very, very nice bass. Underrated, really. It should cost much more (it was made, after all, with the Fender/Gibson range in mind). Built like a tank, and with a very peculiar tone. I don't really like the two pickups mixed, but on their own, they're fabulous. Especially the neck pickup, deep and "growly" (not the Warwick kind of growl, of course, more of a "neck growl" ). Unfortunately (or maybe, luckily for the buyers ), since it is very peculiar in its tone, it never appealed that much back in the days, when Fenders were the standard (and Gibson had a pedigree). But it's a superb instrument nonetheless, I love mine Pity it has always been an overlooked bass
ben604 Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 I'd agree with the above, with both pickups engaged, I find it a little boomy, but there's a wide variety of tones to be had. Super cheap at £280 too! I've got a Black/Maple one and I get comments all the time on how cool it looks!
Geddys nose Posted January 13, 2009 Author Posted January 13, 2009 Your right about it being a great bass I think it might be sold now so I'll put it on hold pending Thanks everyone for the nice words. Cheers Si
