I dislike "Fender Squier" in adverts.

I tend to do a 180 degree flip from 'not a bad price for an old MIM' to 'that is an overpriced Squier'.

Yes - I'm not into "upbranding".

However, Fender do put "by Fender" on some of their models.

Epiphone are even worse and put a "Gibson" TRC on some of theirs!

I suspect the motive is increasing the search parameters rather than 'upbranding' - if you search for Fender this would pop up in the results.  Then the punter would think 'Gosh, I was going to buy a Fender but this Chinese Squier came up and I think I'll buy that!'

Although, tbf, I have previously owned both a '79 Fender Musicmaster and a 'Vista Series' Squier Musicmaster and preferred the latter.

OTOH, I find it annoying when I'm searching for something and I get search & browse manipulation; if ebay had an ignore button for sellers I think I'd use it a lot.

Two here both have 'by Fender' the recent one has a small Fender logo under the Squier one.
