Geejay
Hi, Has anyone got an idea of the cost of a professional de-fret or a replacement (fretless) fingerboard? Just wondering so i don't get ripped off. Geejay
Sibob
The Bass Gallery in Camden did a de-fret on a 5 string i had a few years ago for £50 with maple slip fret lines. Not sure what they're prices are now, check their website, but you shouldn't pay anything more then that i reckon. If you want an unlined fretless fingerboard then you would have to have a replacement fingerboard built, i had a quote from a luthier of £250 for a new fingerboard, but that was fretted, so unlined fretless would probly be less. Having said that, i guess you could just get the Luthier to put the same wood fret lines as the fingerboard and the lines would be less obvious. Geejay
Thanks Si, Much as I thought. I'll get a few quotes and put them on the thread in case others are interested. Geejay
