westoneblah
Hi. Great to find a REAL bass site! I joined my first band in 1963,and I've been playing pretty much ever since - mostly in live 'pub rock' bands. You know, rough and loud, mostly blues and rock. Jeez, after all that time you'd think I'd got the hang of it by now!! My trusty companion is now a Westone Thunder III, which I play through a Laney 300w head, and here in Dubai, through a Hartke 15 cab. Back in the UK I used a Peavey twin 15 Black Widow cab with a Laney 2x10 bright box, which was lovely - and for smaller gigs I had a single 15 cab. Currently playing user-friendly rock - ie Coldplay, Snow Patrol, U2, Sterephonics, Counting Crows etc. Found this site whilst looking for a replacement for my chorus and tuner, both of which have died, and found a chat page discussing the Zoom B2 range. Looking good! See ya

Easy to get gear? Enjoy the forum![/quote] Hi! Live scene totally stifled by UAE employment law, which means that bands are employed by hotels and play covers 7 nights a week, 365 days a year in the same venue - with the obvious consequences on their performance! It's also ILLEGAL to perform in public without a musician licence! So the good performances are at private parties and events only. Most gear is easy to get, and was not expensive until the £ collapsed (now it's cheaper in UK) - but shortage of Fender and Gibson guitars. Best local hotel band is the Golden Star Band at the Seaview Hotel, especially the amazing Cherie Garcia on bass - see her on Utube. Worth seeing her if you're ever in Dubai. Cheers! Sounds like paradise And that Cherie Garcia is something else...but is there a Joan Entwistle?
