Monkey Steve Posted November 14, 2019 Posted November 14, 2019 Soul Limbo by Booker T & the MGs is a good one for a beginner - prominent riff, everybody knows the tune, and it sounds more difficult than it is One from left field for all satanists learning to play the bass - The Promise by Akercocke from the Antichrist album 1 Quote
ped Posted November 14, 2019 Posted November 14, 2019 I learned slap by jamming along with the baselines by rap pioneers like Grandmaster Flash and Funky 4+1. Although often sampled by similar artists, many of the best tunes had live baselines played over a groove and were amazing for practicing fills and space. 2 Quote
Bobthedog Posted November 14, 2019 Posted November 14, 2019 The Time is Now - Moloko Come as you Are - Nirvana ( mostly the same throughout) Stand By Me - Ben E King or really simple but tiresomely repetitive: Safe from Harm - Massive Attack. Four notes over two strings repeated on and on and on and on. Great choon sampled from Billy Cobham’s “Stratus” A mixture of styles for you. 2 Quote

upside downer Posted November 14, 2019 Posted November 14, 2019 One of the first 'tricky' lines I ever got my head around. Only uses three frets, good workout for a newbie. 4 Quote
dave moffat Posted November 14, 2019 Posted November 14, 2019 hehe thanks guys you've just expanded my playlist exponentially in spite of listening them on youtwat and discarding a few and looking up the tabs. Can't believe how many really simple but effective bass lines there are out there, keep em coming. 1 Quote
SpondonBassed Posted November 14, 2019 Posted November 14, 2019 Walking on the Moon - The Police. There is a chorus line but it's as easy as the verse line. Deceptively difficult to pull off well though. 1 Quote
