White Cloud
Hi fellow bass-chatters. Guitar guitar have a nice looking used German Warwick GPS Streamer (Cherry/bubinga/wenge) for sale online @ £849... it's taken my fancy but due to 'geographic misalignment' I cant get hands on before pulling the trigger. In the spirit of this excellent site, are there any Warwick authorities here who could offer opinions on whether or not the price is right, and what I could expect from this model? I've only owned one Warwick before - a lovely Corvette (which I loved). Thanks in advance!
White Cloud
Hmmm, the picture of the headstock says "LX"... confusing!
moonbass
It looks like a Streamer LX to me, and therefore price probably about right. Did you think it was a Stage 1?

Guest
It’s a teambuilt Streamer LX 4-string - so made in Germany but built by suppliers local to Warwick rather than hand-built in the Warwick factory (which is a bit of a misnomer as Warwick invested millions in computerised manufacture). I’d say the price is OK given new ones are going for around £1,700 new. The LX is a bolt-on vs the Stage 1 being a neck through. There are also other differences in woods (and IIRC the LX has a 2-band preamp vs the Stage 1’s 3-band). LeftyJ
Wouldn't an LX have a flamed maple body? My 5-string does.

I've seen LX's with flamed maple bodies however, this one is Cherry. Warwicks seem confusing to me.
Guest
Original German Warwick LX model had flamed maple, as do the German handbuilt “Masterbuilt” basses (plus almost any option you can imagine - basically super-expensive custom shop instruments). This is a cheaper Teambuilt model which is made from US cherry. They’ve substituted model woods in the past - the Korean pro and Rockbass lines mostly.
