I’m not sure this is a 62 RI model. I think it’s a Japanese standard jazz bass. Very nice guitars!

Maybe..... but  typical 62 bridge and shield  .....

Your are right, but  all jb38 like yours are made in basswood. I have a pbass with the same wood with 4kg of weight. Anyway, this basses have an amazing sound. Always are a good purchase.

I was just at Claude's place sealing the deal on another bass. While I was there I had chance to play this Fender Jazz bass. Without an amp it is very resonant and the body isn't covered in the dings that are so easy to collect on basswood bodies. This and the weight suggests to me alder, rather than basswood. Just my 2 cents opinion.

It’s a 60’s reissue bass and it’s alder

This is a standard Japanese Jazz bass with the 62 touches. They did that back then. Ive had quite a few from this era. The body is definitely made of basswood.  Its a great wood. MusicMan chose this wood for the Bongo.
