Why is picking a band name so bloody hard?

We had a pub quiz name at work "Dangerous Dave and the Panda Snatchers", which I really want to repurpose for a band one day.

"We Cured the Katy" I rather like too.

One of the teams at a recent quiz night came up with "Quiz Team Aguilera" which I thought was clever.

Many years ago there was a very short lived punk band in Northampton called "Kipper Trench" who then changed their name to "By Order of the Seven Fat Pigs"

That's the thing - no one cares once they've seen you play - the Elbow wikipedia page says that they chose the name because it was described as a "lovely word". So to straddle that tricky line between pretentious and wacky, I reckon it's best to pick a random word that you like the sound of, but otherwise has no special meaning.

One of my favourite bands is called Stereo Embers. They have an album called Code of Sound which I think would be a pretty cool band name.

One local band from a few decades ago was "Emma Gibbs loves badges", which was the headline to an item in the local paper.

One band I was in was looking for a name, and the keyboard player came up with "Naked Touch". The rest of us tried our best to think of an alternative, but we didn't manage to come up with anything.

Another local band that a fellow BCer was the bassist for called themselves "Good Question", which I thought was inspired.

My first band morphed from a fairly dreary blues band into a pop/rock covers band, minus the keys and with a new drummer.  Mrs S came up with the name 'May Contain Nuts' and that is what stuck.

OK I finally came up with something that the rest of the band like. There are no other bands with the name, and even the .com, Facebook page, Instagram etc are all available.

Quite right, I've got a couple of ideas rattling around the echoing space normal folks keep their brains but no way I'm putting them out there.
