Will these strings fit?

I've been given a set of elites standard gauge long scale strings, will these fit a Fender Jazz? i have a feeling that they could be too long even if they are cut down, thanks.

Should do. Long scale normally means 34 inches - any thing else is short scale and longer is extra-long. Fender Jazz are all 34" as it was Leo Fender who set the standard.

thats what i thought, but it looks as if they do need cutting. thanks bass_ferret.

They usually do. The only strings that dont need cutting is when you use through body stringing and even then they need trimming unless you want loads of wraps round the peg.

The only set of bass strings I've had that didn't need cutting were the set of Roberts I put on my Squire VM Jazz.
