Mzungu71 Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Hell fellow Bass Chatters. Just wondering if anyone knows of any residential or weekend courses you can turn up with your bass and get a few pointers to work on? Cheers Quote
misrule Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 (edited) Somebody previously mentioned a summer course in Brighton which sounded fun -- I don't know where you're based, though. bimm.co.uk Might go myself Cheers Mark Edited January 16, 2009 by misrule Quote

iamthewalrus Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 ACM in Guildford do a Summer School which I've been to a couple of times - it's usually held in the last week before the August Bank Holiday. You get a daily dose of theory & technique stuff plus LPW's (Live Performance Workshops) for the tunes they've picked for the final day where everyone gets a turn to play in a band situation. It's usually about £399 for the week, but well worth it for the classroom stuff alone. Cheers, iamthewalrus Quote
mhuk Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 (edited) There was one in Bath last year - I haven't looked but maybe there's another this year? I think it was this one: http://www.igf.org.uk/workshops/workshop-g...p;location=Bath Edited June 7, 2009 by mhuk Quote
iamthewalrus Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009
do they cater for all levels?
The cross section of people at the ACM Summer School tends to range from people who have been playing a few months to many years. The age range also tends to run from young teenagers to guys in the 40+ category. The teachers do a great job in teaching right across the spectrum. I did it twice & thoroughly enjoyed it both times out. Cheers, iamthewalrus Quote
RhysP Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 Sorry to derail slightly, but whenever I see the word "Workshop" it always makes me think of Alexi Sayles fabulous line: "Anyone who uses the term "Workshop" who isn't connected with light engineering is a twat" Quote
