Somebody previously mentioned a summer course in Brighton which sounded fun -- I don't know where you're based, though.

Might go myself ;)

Thanks for the reply, little distant for me \I'm in the east Midlands, but I'd not rule it out :P

ACM in Guildford do a Summer School which I've been to a couple of times - it's usually held in the last week before the August Bank Holiday. You get a daily dose of theory & technique stuff plus LPW's (Live Performance Workshops) for the tunes they've picked for the final day where everyone gets a turn to play in a band situation.

It's usually about £399 for the week, but well worth it for the classroom stuff alone.

There was one in Bath last year - I haven't looked but maybe there's another this year?

I think it was this one: http://www.igf.org.uk/workshops/workshop-g...p;location=Bath
do they cater for all levels?
The cross section of people at the ACM Summer School tends to range from people who have been playing a few months to many years. The age range also tends to run from young teenagers to guys in the 40+ category.

The teachers do a great job in teaching right across the spectrum. I did it twice & thoroughly enjoyed it both times out.

Sorry to derail slightly, but whenever I see the word "Workshop" it always makes me think of Alexi Sayles fabulous line:
