Who would you be playing bass with in your dream gig?

I'm picking living people but as it's a dream line-up, dead people are allowed.

I'd be in a quartet with Stevie Wonder, Jeff Beck and Bernard Purdie - with Prince depping for me. ;)

EDIT: If I had to play in an established band, it'd be The Black Crowes.

Hawkwind on the Space Ritual tour........I'd like to play with John McLaughlin too (although I think I might need to 'shed a bit before that gig!).

Ha Ha!

I'd have to agree.

I'd also like to replace Les Claypool...Ler, herb and brains are all fantastic players.

But all in all, i'd love Stevie Ray vaughn on guitar, Mike Patton on vocals, George Harrison Rhythm, Keith moon on drums, and Elton John on keys...

Lol, that's a very "busy" band. I may have to make another list for people that groove...

Same as last time.
I'd replace Duck Dunn, then I'd have been on all those Stax records, in Booker T & the MGs, in The Blues Brothers Band, played with Clapton, Albert King, Muddy Waters, Elvis and a million others. A charmed life to be sure!

My dream bass gig would be in any of my current or previous bands if they were actually popular enough for me make a living out of them.

Failing that I'll settle for being Hooky's replacement if New Order were to re-form.

For me it would have to be:

David Coverdale -Vocals

Me - Bass

Steve Walsh - Lead Guitar

David Gilmour - another lead guitar

Steve Howe - Rythym guitar

Steve Gadd - Drums

Vinnie Coiliuta - Drums

Ray Cooper - Percussion

Sam Brown -Backing Vocals

Durga McBroom - Backing Vocals

I think I've maybe thought a bit much about this but while thinking about it, I did toy with the idea of having another 2 bass players as well as me - John Deacon and Bob Daisley

As a alternative to my previous post....

Me - bass
Joni Mitchell - vocals
Lindsay Buckingham - guitar
Sly Dunbar - drums

An oddball line-up, but Dunbar is my favourite drummer purely cos of his snare sound!

Nice one! Actually there are a few who maintain a regular pulse.

William Calhoun on drums
Vernon Reid on guitar
Corey Glover on vocals
Paul Anthony on bass

Probably would have had to have been while they were touring Vivid or Times Up. Muzzy would have to have been called out to fight a fire somewhere in lower Manhattan.

I'd love to play bass for The Who's current tour, in place of the mighty Pino. I think it'd be a LOT easier to play with Starkey than it would be with Moon, although I suspect that Townshend doesn't exactly want much creative freedom from the bass chair these days.

Playing bass with my fave outfit Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes - best bar room band EVER!!!

OR playing bass with the Stones / Springsteen / Stevie Wonder etc etc
(and +1 for the Average White Band!)

That's a gig I'd like too (well, in theory at least; I can imagine walking on stage in front of the average Who audience and dying of fright!). To be honest, although Pino's a great player, I find him a strange choice (in terms of style) for that gig.

I'd have loved to have played with early Jamiroquai too, but I'm not really stylistically suited to it; I think I'll leave that one to Stu. Fleetwood Mac would be nice actually, and the Stranglers would be interesting (at least up until the point where I got bottled off for not being JJ!).

my 'dream gig' would undoubtedly be Dream Theater. i dread to think how much work i would have to put in to learn a full set of songs......but it would be the ultimate gig for me personally

Ha, yeah great choice, but you wouldn't remember it afterwards, would you? ;)
