A friend of mine called 'Blaine' pointed me to this forum and in two days I've gotten a little bit hooked so I figured it might be ok to introduce myself. I'm Stuart Dahlquist and I've been playing the bass guitar nearly 30 years. No thats not true... it has been thirty years as of this year. In 84 I went to Musicians Institute and lasted about four months before dropping out; couldn't stand it. So outside of that brief dabbling with the academic side of things its been a constant slogging of self taughtedness. I have a band called 'Asva' and have been involved with a bunch of other stuff in the past: Sunn, Goatsnake, Burning Witch + loads of funk and even a little gospel experience. I like to read books, drink coffee, look at porn, look at my wife, look at porn with my wife and smoke cigarettes in the wee hours of the morning. Currently I have a sore throat and am thinking I'd better do something about it before Asva leaves on tour.
I like Acoustic 360-361's, play a 72 Fender Telecaster bass, what's left of a Gibson RD Artist, and a 1981ish (what ever the first year was) G&L L1000 that has three volume knobs and looks like your average topless dancers new acrylic nails. They are all strung 145, 110, 85, 70. Blaine mentioned a 175 being available and thats how I got here. f***ing 175. Jesus.

Morning. Welcome. I reckon we need some of your wildness in this very dignified forum.

I didn't quite get that but tonight the wine is doing its job and leaving my brain out of things... perhaps I'm lucky. I was up at 4AM that morning and finally got up the courage to post around six-ish. Sometimes there is so much going on I can't stay asleep. Tonight though will be different and sleeping throughout it is what I'll do.
Asva had a brilliant rehearsal this afternoon, finally sounding like we actually know the music we're playing. An easiness. Can't wait to leave Thursday and dig in for a week of shows then back home and into recording the new stuff.
