You've obviously seen more of my bass than I've seen of it! Do you really like 5 string basses?? Edited May 14, 2009 by Spoombung

budget bassist
nice, can't wait to see it together! To be fair, it's been a really quick build!
Spoombung
Well, thanks for all the nice comments, guys, but the inevitable has happened: Mike rang me to say the bridge won't be in the workshop 'till Monday (there's been a cock-up at customs with UPS) so I'll have to postpone my trip to Essex 'till Thursday next week - the next time I'm free ... so it should hopefully be ready for my birthday. In the meantime he's promised to send me pics of the neck and electronics being fitted - so no doubt he will be posing with a soldering iron for your entertainment at some point. Spoombung
Another pic from Mike at pest control: and this is the silver Iceni logo being transferred on the back of the headstock: To be honest, I don't really understand if it's a Zoot bass or an Iceni bass or even an Iceni Zoot bass. I've always found that one of the most unclear aspects of the Mike's operation. Anyway, I'll just have to seek clarification from the main man when I see him on Thursday. budget bassist
i thought zoot was the name of a model of iceni?
lemmywinks
Aye i thought it was the Zoot shape like mine, the one shared by the Chaser, Performer et al. A quick look on the site and Mike has all their production basses under the Zoot banner including the Fendery one. The Boudica was just called the Iceni Boudica though i think Confusing stuff! wesfinn
I used to work as a builder for mike for about 5 years. the company goes by the name if Iceni, the Zoot bass is a particular style which you have in your avatar. theres a few types, Zoot performer, chaser, deluxe, custom. up till about 2006 they transfered over to having angled headstocks from the older flat style with string trees. the funkmeister is the jazz style with sweeping heel, music man style headstock. the groovemeister is the newest addition and is a P bass style. the boudica is the most out there bass with the extended horn, 28 fret extended range. hope thats some help! somewhere i have lots of in progress shots of iceni basses from my time there so if a thread is started i can add them on if i find them! wes
The Funkmeister is listed on the Zootbass website, under the big "Zootbass" banner.
