I used to have the related short-scale 3000 and - during my researches on the bass - discovered that the 3001 was (supposedly) aimed at the P-bass and has a similar thumping sound rather than the Ricky clang on the 4000 range. Its also very heavy, according to reviews I read. Come up very rarely on eBay (like one a year) and very trendy as the Arctic Monkeys guy plays one, while Mani of Stone Roses/Primal Scream plays the 3000. Think they made them from about the late 1970s and stopped making them in the early/mid 1980s. Rickresource.com always has tons of info on anything Rick-related Edited January 17, 2009 by Clarky Quote
Sercet Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Clarky is right. I had one for a while. Very precision-like. Quote
Pookus Posted January 17, 2009 Author Posted January 17, 2009 I like precisions, weight and rickenbackers - so sounds good to me Quote
Mr.T Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 My first Bass was a 3001. It cost me £220 way back in 1984... used, but pretty much 'mint'. I gigged it for about 6 years, mainly in a blues band. Amazingly deep and very loud. The downside was 'neck dive' and overall weight.... But what an incredible sound! I sold it a few years ago for £450.... and now regret it. Quote
NURZE Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 yeah they're very cool. I can imagine the neckdive, the headstock is huge. They're cool sounding basses, they're pretty cheap as well. Quote
