I stapled and glued it - glued the flat surfaces down then stapled the carpet around the edges otherwise it would have just come up, if that makes any sense?

I have an ongoing problem with taking pedals off of my board and having the velcro attached to the board coming up with it. I though I was using too much velcro on the bottom of the pedals but I've taken it all of and replaced with less.

I can't remember where I've seen that picture. You could be right. No doubt Omar uses something OTT.
