Just thought i would share a magical moment in my life....

I am over here in Berlin playing Bass on a show for 3 month's ,
And last night after the Performance went along to see Allan Holdsworth at Quasimodo's [A small live venue]
that hold's about 200/250 i suppose.

I managed to get to the front ,about 10 feet from Mr Haslip , who was on fire with Chad wackerman on drums...
It was just amazing to see these guy's at work so close up.

Me and a couple of Dude's i work with stayed for a drink [No sign of the band]
we were totally on our own in the small Bar when , Jimmy Haslip appeared with Wackerman....
Here i was standing next to one of my Idol's....
So i just talked for about 1/2 hour with him.......

Man , what a humble person he is.
Telling me about his direction , of getting into producing.
And constant touring since 1971....!!

I havent landed yet....!!!

I was at the same tour in Lnodon 2 weeks ago + the masterclass with Allan Holdsworth and Alan Pasqua...absolutely mindblowing!! Jimmy was amazing, and he and Chad stopped by after the masterclass to sign and answer some informal questions etc - one of the best days ever!! :)

whats chad wackerman like
love his live zappa stuff along with Mr thunes
Apparently they didn't get along and Wacks had Thunes taken off his monitors. Thunes said that's why 98% of the downbeats were wrong.

His Answer.....

Figures. Anthony Jackson and Jimmy Haslip are two of the sickest bassists I've ever heard.

Chad Wackerman has to be the best name I have ever heard for a drummer, it's almost perfect.

On the subject of meeting heroes when I was young I was a massive Snuff fan and since have played with Duncan (Singer/Drummer) many times to the point where I have talked to him loads, what I love about him is that he could be touring Asia making a sh*t load with Snuff but instead he likes to try new little projects to really small audiences.
Hey Garry, I'm also a big Haslip fan, met him at a Yellowjackets gig once, lovely guy, as was Bob Mintzer, I'm also pals with Jimmy Johnson who Haslip is replacing in that band.
In a bizarre twist of fate I'm in Berlin from Thurs-Tues :)
Have a good time - i was there again about a month ago.
A great place, i love it.

Seems like today is the day for dragging up posts from years ago...
