musicman1 Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 hi i have just received a boss oc 2 a japan version and i have a problem when i play my bass into it i make my amp distorted, i have a musicman stingray and a aguilar ag500, when i turn the volume right down on my bass the pedal sound fine with not distortion. i have tried a friends fender jazz and it sounds fine has anyone else had this problem rob Quote
thisnameistaken Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Sounds like your stingray has an especially powerful output and it's overdriving the OC-2, rather than a problem with the pedal. Are the pickups especially high? Tried it with the Stingray's EQ knobs flat? You're running bass -> OC-2 -> amp, right? Not bass->amp (amp fx loop -> OC-2)? Quote

Kev Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 its the bass eq on the musicman that might be causing it, several effect iv owned in the past have distorted if iv had the bass boosted too much Quote

Obviously try removing any boost you've got set on the EQ before messing with the pickup itself. Quote

burno70 Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Where abouts are you playing on the fret-board? I have an OC-2 and it distorts if I go lower than the low C on a regular tuned based. anything above this and it's lovely - speshially higher up. Quote

I've got to be honest, that's a crazy EQ. Do your EQ for sound shaping on your amp and leave the EQ on your bass flat, this will solve the issue with the OC-2. Quote
