I think it used to be something vintage - maybe a hofner or similar. The value is probably in the included hardware for restoring a similar model rather than the butchered body/neck.

For anyone who's genuinely interested, it's a Teisco J5, twin pickup version of this, from the late 50s/early 60s.

Looks to be complete, so definitely worth restoring. Bit miffed I missed it, having clocked the price of this one:

That is interesting! I'm surprised the seller didn't seem to be aware of its vintage. It might have gone for more.
