neilp Posted December 17, 2019 Posted December 17, 2019 I've owned my 1980 Aria SB1000 since 1986 ish, and I've always had half an eye open for a fretless twin for it, with absolutely no joy - until last week, up it pops on flea bay. Same wood, similar condition (not quite as good as the fretted one, but very good), plays great. It had to be done...... 6 Quote

dudewheresmybass Posted December 18, 2019 Posted December 18, 2019 (edited) A fine pair of bat wings you have there sir! 😉🤘 Edited December 18, 2019 by dudewheresmybass 1 Quote
neilp Posted December 18, 2019 Author Posted December 18, 2019 The fretless needs the nut cutting down a bit, but sounds great, plenty of mwah. Wondering whether I need the Wal now.... Seriously, I'm chuffed to bits. Always wanted one of these, GAS killed for good now. 1 Quote
neilp Posted December 18, 2019 Author Posted December 18, 2019 Does anyone know how to decode early SB serial numbers? Quote

neilp Posted December 20, 2019 Author Posted December 20, 2019 Thanks, yes, I knew that, and they're both 1980, which is nice. I was just wondering if there is any finer detail to be had. Not the end of the world, I'm a player not a collector. The fretless will be getting a good setup and then be out on a stage in the South East very soon! 1 Quote
Deedee Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 Ah ok. There’s a lot of information on Talkbass on Aria SB basses but it may take some trawling through. Congratulations though. A lovely pair! Quote
stewblack Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 Superb instruments. Congrats, patience rewarded - nice one! 1 Quote
