MXR-80+which pre-amp to push power amp?

Having established that the output of the MXR-80+ isn't enough to fully push the power stage of my amp (MAG400 or Crate PowerBlock), the question arises - Is there an inexpensive pre-amp (ACT?) I can strap onto the MXR to push my amp properly?

Any tried this?
