I may have to take a gander at them... Ta!

I was about to go fill in with customs as i could never get a good fit. I matter what i used. Tried a pair of the 100’s and they at was that. Well, i did end up with the 400’s, but fit wise these were exactly what i was needing.

Question... You used the bog standard black foam/gel tips?

Luckily I hit on the Senn IE and they are a great fit and I like the sound of them (I'd gone back to the KZs and found them a little harsh at similar volumes).

They have a smiley face type response so do need EQ ing to get them substantially flat.

Sennheiser?  I never feel like they need any EQ direct from the desk so it may be the mid dip that I like.  :)

Yes, i use memory foam tips. While theSen’s are small enough that they will stay put, which is a revelation, i still dont get quite the isolation i do with the foam tips.

Same here. Not needed to use any EQ at the desk, although my IEM receiver has a few sound profiles so i do use one of those.

A quick heads up. Just poking around at the "cheapo" 5.8GHz solutions (i.e. Lekato + P2) - Amazon have a Joyo version of the Lekato which looks to be identical, and they have a £21 voucher off on them until 21st November - making them £84 rather than £105...

I bought those from £74 from aliexpress a few months back, they came in a week and I have used them at every gig since. The only downside I have in using them is that you can't easily pull a SM58 style microphone through the microphone grip as they are quite fat, so you have to pull it up, which can make a bit of a clonk. However, the singer loves them, can go to the back of the room (and does) with no issues, which enables him to continue his search to get the most attractive, and most tone deaf woman in the audience to sing with him!

edit - now I look you can get them for £70 inc tax from ae.

I have the Lekato version of that and it doesn't seem to play nicely with the line level outputs of our desk going into my Behringer P2, have you used them successfully with a belt pack rather than just a mic?

Is that the microphone version pf amp overhang?

Possibly but a little more annoying as you rarely need to pick up an amp while playing!

Another cool feature of the wireless thing is that they have a large light ring around the bottom that glows blue, but when the battery is going to die, it starts slowly pulsing red for about 15 minutes before it does, unlike the really expensive senheiser wireless microphone that a dep singer of ours used live, which just cut out mid song. I guess it probably would have said on the tiny LCD screen had she been looking.

You are trying to use them as a line output from a desk? They are microphone level senders, I can't imagine they would work at all well in that situation unless you turned the level right down.

Yeah they aren't a workable solution for a line level at all, the P2 can't compensate for the signal they need. We just use them for our singer's vocal mic.

Mic level for an SM58 is 1.85mV,  line level on my mixer is +4dBu or 1.23V (1230 mV), well over 600 times more. Other mics may be higher or lower output.

Need to drop from line to mic level. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/395585727027 may get you there (depending upon the real world tolerances of the Lekato input). Worth a try, if not, two in series will drop you to -40db which will get easily get you within the realms of mic level. (An attenuator (or in worse case, two) with minimal output on the aux send should get you there though.)

I was looking at those, couldn't find a 40db version cheap enough to chance it (they were about £80) but didn't know you could daisy chain them. I did try it with my small desk dropping the signal way down until it was workable but the P2 doesn't have enough power to compensate for this so it's just too quiet without another preamp in there.

Can get these for around £80 and they claim to be line level friendly so might just treat myself to one for Christmas:

I think you will need 30-40dB and that can be achieved in a single attenuator. Let me have a look though my past archives.

That's what I found when I looked, the cheapest I found was £80. Might as well just get that Alto and let our singer carry on using the Lekato wireless for her mic.

Had my first gig with IEMs last night, I was using KZ ZS10 Pro X which I picked up for £40.

it was a positive first experience using them, and a revelation to be able to hear our lead guitarist so clearly as he is the opposite side of the stage to me. Vocals were distorting quite a bit, but I think that can be fixed as we get more used to the setup and mixer etc.

I hate using cables, and so managed to make myself a DIY wireless kit using a Behringer P2 and a Lekato wireless mic 5.8ghz set. It worked just fine, and I didn’t experience any drop outs or pairing issues. I was also using my Boss WL20 on 2.4 ghz, we have a digital desk on 2.4, one of the guitarists has a 2.4 wireless and a gear for music wireless IEM set, so plenty going on but all worked well.

I was keen to try IEMs but didn’t want to spend a fortune if it turned out it wasn’t for me, overall I was happy with everything  I had. The P2 and Lekato combo felt quite heavy in my hand, but I didn’t really notice it

clipped on my belt, and it was still preferable to a cable. Only downside was the receiver didn’t lock into the P2 XLR but it didn’t ever feel like it would disconnect.

Argh, sorry, the forum editor is driving me loopy. This is the post I was referring to - I assume there are better ways to kludge things together then?
