NikNik Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 Initially, it was the ramp that caught my eye. But then I looked further and thought this might be a Squier VM with a reshaped headstock. Don't think it's that either as the black in the 'burst is too severe and looks more like the kit one sees on AliExpress. Anyone know of this builder? Custom Build Quote
prowla Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 Looks like the headstock was one of those blank squared ones and the person cut it to shape without using a template. Quote
Bassassin Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 Harley Benton with a ramp and a sticker? The burst's not right (uglier) but it's pretty damn close: https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_jb_40fl_3_tone_sunburst.htm Another day, another chancer... 1 Quote

It reminds me of those Winfield guitars I used to see in Woolie's as a kid. And I thought they were shite. Quote

It was much, much better looking than the one in the OP. And it played very nice, although it was pretty heavy. Quote

TheGreek Posted January 4, 2020 Posted January 4, 2020 My thoughts exactly...why do some think that "I nailed loads of bits together, badly, by myself" means "Custom" 1 Quote
lemmywinks Posted January 5, 2020 Posted January 5, 2020 (edited) I've seen that horrible noburst on basses before, can't remember what brands but none of them were ones I'd want to own and I love a cheap bass or two. Youtube demo here: Agreed they are just bolt together bitsas with reshaped headstocks, not exactly warranting the "Rowland Custom Shop" logo. Edited January 5, 2020 by lemmywinks Quote

bassinvader36 Posted January 5, 2020 Posted January 5, 2020 Hand made , cut , sanded , the whole thing . Quote
lemmywinks Posted January 5, 2020 Posted January 5, 2020 That's weird because the neck on this one looks like a cheapo which has had its headstock crudely reshaped, definitely looks agricultural compared to the rest of it: The more observant amongst us will notice different coloured control knobs. Seems like quite a few "luthiers" are taking cues from the master! 2 Quote
