A long time ago when the Bass Center was in Wapping and I made an annual trip to check out what was moving and shaking in the bass universe (before the internet, kids!)(Can you imagine?) there was a high end Tune bass which I really fancied. It was a Tune Wood Bass.

I cannot seem to find one and I am guessing they are out of production. Does anyone know of one available? Here is a link to a pic

Due to the fickle nature of the bass world for anything not having Fender on the headstock, I guess that they have low resale value by now, which is a good thing ;)

Wrong! They still make them. There goes that plan ;)

The original link is for a Tune Japan Bass. In your second post you've linked to the Tune Korea site which only has a tenuous connection with the original Japanese Tune Basses.

Luckily for you Tune Japan are still making the WB series basses. However they're not cheap, at the current exchange rates a new one will set you back somewhere between £2000 and £2500 plus shipping VAT and import duty...

Might be worth keeping an eye on Ishibashi's U-Box for a second-hand one at a far more reasonable price.

BigRedX, you are the Tune Meister!
However, you have confirmed that I am never going to pick one up for £500 2nd hand ;)
But at least I now have ANOTHER site to obsessively check on a regular basis. :P

I do fancy this one though

I played one of those in the BC in Wapping, kooky little thing it was.

I remember seeing a Tune bass in some mag around the same time that I've never seen in the flesh It was white, fretless, had that curved end to the neck like the one you linked to, and I think it must've only had a piezo pickup because the body had nothing on it but a bridge and one or two knobs.

Anybody know what that might've been?
Bass Centre recently had quite a few Tune basses in their sale, all seem to be gone now though, and they were korean.
I found them when I was googling for info originally.

Korean built? Works for me!

Nice looking bass. What's the model number, and when and where did you buy it?

Also were you looking at the correct Tune website?

The closest thing I've seen to it is on the Japan website..and I can't find a serial number on the bass at all..durrr
I bought it a couple of months back from E-bay.I'd heard of them from the 90's and thought that besides it looking really nice, could have potentially found a custom job for a stupid price
