budget bassist Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 (edited) That first one looks ridiculous, and the wood on the neck looks brand new... Wasn't he asking a ridiculous price too? I mean it's not even playable... That 2 stringer is pretty cool though Edited January 22, 2009 by budget bassist Quote
JakeBrownBass Posted January 22, 2009 Author Posted January 22, 2009 For all the punks in the house Quote
BigRedX Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 (edited) Two of those are owned by people who post here, and I was seriously considering buying the 2 stringer with the angled frets. I love the Bas Extravaganza stuff. One day I'll own one of his creations. Edited January 22, 2009 by BigRedX Quote
lemmywinks Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Wonder what the one-stringer looks like with the pickup that way around? Quote

Eight Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 I want one of his basses so bad. That punk rock battered bass is amazing. I can't play the intro to Sweet Child very well anyway so it'd be no great loss. Quote

Would be great in an old school punk band - obviously the thing is unplayable, but that shouldn't get in the way of a Sid Vicious impersonation. And who really needs the 13th fret anyway? Anything above 5th fret is showing off! Quote
BigRedX Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 (edited) I do like this bit of the description from the web site:
Neck: 2 pieces of maple (used to be one piece), with metal reinforment Fretboard: maple, nothing and maple again Frets: 9 pcs for playing, other for decoration
You can see it at the front of this group shot of basses Now got realy bad GAS for "Mother of Pearl", "Rack" or "McDonalds Countertop"...
Agreed, it's just another bit of cheap design art that doesn't work particularly well as either a bass or an 'artistic statement'. Some of his other creations are really quite nice though, esp. the Jazz with the valve preamp. Quote
Mr. Foxen Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 The punk bass is playable, the first 9 frets are fine, and who really needs more than that? Te 'point' is explained on his site:
Doesn't it strike you as odd, that you see million selling bands on MTV dressed like French "clochards", but playing the most expensive guitars out there? What's wrong with that picture? I felt a moral obligation to change that... So, I designed a bassguitar to match the looks of those MTV-bands: rugged, dirty and rough.
Quote
Golchen Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 The first bass look crap. The second one looks amazing. I'd have that! Quote
