And the people are so friendly and welcoming, we’ve made some good friends over there. Exactly what I thought. Enjoy the evening Lozz. The owners of the venue also own a nice hotel which they've invited us to play this NYE. Nice paycheck, food and drink and accommodation thrown in. Being the only sober member of the band they have even reserved me a single room with everyone else sharing so I can get to bed while they get wasted and I don't get woken up by their amusing drunken banter. I call that a win. As would I. Nice one chief!

The Chatworth opposite does DJs and Sunday live bands. The King's Head opposite the George and Dragon has been gutted and refurbished and is now a wine bar. The John Bull has long been renamed The Gunnersbury and lost its mojo re. music - they still do some, very occasionally, but the owners sold part of their back yard to developers about 10 years ago and now they have got flats with complaining neighbours if they make noise (quelle surprise). The George IV and the Tabard are the two decent music pubs left in Chiswick. Edited December 25, 2019 by Silvia Bluejay typos!

Hobbayne
The pub opposite the Red Lion used to be called the White Hart. I played my first ever gig there back in 1983. 😁 I believe it burnt down a few years back (coincidentally on NYE.)

I think you mean The Aeronaut (next to the police station) - that burned down a few years ago and has been rebuilt and refurbished. I don't remember what it was before becoming The Aeronaut but I think you're right about the name. Edit: unless you were referring to the Chatsworth, of course, which did not burn down but may well have changed name. FinnDave
Must be getting n for 35 years since I played the John Bull - not surprised it's changed! Only places I've played in London recently are the Half Moon in Putney and the Fiddler's Elbow in Camden.

Loved doing the quayside festival. We were invited to do the NYE one but sadly our singer is not doing NYE this year, otherwise we would, it was one of the favourites of this year. Mind you, we played it on a warm day in the summer

mrtcat
Playing for the RAF in Cyprus. We have to be at Brize Norton on monday and they'll load all our gear onto a plane and fly us out there. Coming back on New Year's day. We've done it before and our agents now supply masses of acts to HM forces. We get really well looked after and the pay is daft for something we'd happily do for free.
