Figure it out - Royal Blood

We're doing it with guitars, so a slightly different arrangement, but I've still got to learn it all.

Great fun song. Here's our version with guitars if iflt helps

Doing some homework for next rehearsal:

Blondie, "One Way or Another"

Hole, "Celebrity Skin"

Garbage, "Only Happy When it Rains"

A rocked up version of "Ring of Fire", kinda like Bowling For Soup perhaps.

And making sure that these haven't trickled out of my brain in the interim:

Ozzy, "Bark at the Moon"

Queen, "Tie Your Mother Down"

Blondie One Way or Another we do in the punk band.

Speed it up towards the end and keep speeding it up until the dancers can't cope. Its so funny to watch from the stage. :laugh1:

I do enjoy a bit of fun at a gig.

Ozzy & Queen songs are a great choice.

February has been an unusually busy month. I have worked up about 60 songs for 4 bands. That's for a 50's rock n roll, r&b and ska band, a blues, r&b, funk and soul band, a soul and smooth jazz gig and a reunion with the 3 surviving members from my school band.

About 50% of these songs I've played before, 30% I kinda know but have never played and the rest were originals or I've never heard. There are about 4 which are a stretch and pushing me beyond my comfort zone and 2 are a worry, but I have 10 days to get them right. Fingers crossed.

You'll be fine. 👍

Plan it out and it will all fall into place.

In a week and a half it's the first gig for a band I started off recruiting people for on Facebook. First singer ended up baling, bug not before changing the direction a bit.  New singer is great, two guitarists and four of us singing so should be a big  hard rick sound.

Really excited to play rock songs in a rock band, rather than just as part of general covers, so we can go for a much more powerful sound. Like the Nottingham band that was killed by covid before we could do a full gig.

Only two 'crowd pleasers' the other 23 songs are ones we all want to play.

Oddly some songs I haven't played live since about 1988! One is Devil Woman, never thought I'd be playing that again, some Purple, Sabbath and Zep, balanced by Rival Sons and Black Crowes, znd some stuff in the middle like Foos, Soundgarden and RHCP.

Quite a few people saying they will come do hope we don't disappoint!

Actually I'm really excited!

As is usual with my easily led mind, I'm supposed to be brushing up on Tin Soldier by The Small Faces and I've ended up learning When You Touch Me by The Guess Who.

What a fun song to play.

I did get Tin Soldier nailed again too so all's good. 😁

Badly sinc'd video.

Just been learning Jailbreak by Thin Lizzy, tomorrow will be the first time we play it with the band, it’s a great song.

Great song. What key are you doing it in. /

If i remember right it was Eb tuning and played on the E.

I played that in one of my very first bands just after taking lessons back in late 70's possibly 78.

Happy days

We do it (and all our songs) in E, so we learn them with regular or detuned guitars, but then play them in the right places in E. Does make them sound a bit strange the first few times, soon get used to them tho.
