~tl Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 (edited) I guess this was announced at NAMM, but it's the first I've heard of it. Looks GASelicious though: http://www.dv247.com/invt/61880/ 500w digital power section, valve preamp and weighs in at 4kgs for £450. Put me down for one! stacedabass Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 ohh looks good, would very much like to try one out. i just like the words 'terror bass'!! Quote
~tl Posted January 24, 2009 Author Posted January 24, 2009 Seems there's a thread about them on TalkBass: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=507696 Looks like they have an effects loop and DI out on the side... bit of a pain if you want to put them in a case. By my calculations (taking them to be the same size as the Tiny Terror guitar amp) they should fit in a 4U rack case if you made up rack ears for them. Quote
skankdelvar Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 (edited) 500w and 4kg? They'll break inside 5 minutes, trust me. Ye cannae defy the laws of physics Captain! Edited January 24, 2009 by skankdelvar Quote
Buzz Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 That's rather interesting, Oranges' foray into the midpriced bass range via a hybrid amp? I'll be interested in reviews in 6 months time. Quote
attackbass Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 I'm likely going to pick one of these up when they go into production, i hoping it might serve as a backup head to my orange ad200b. If not it'll be a cool little amp to have around. Quote
lemmywinks Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 My LMII cut out tonight so i'm in the market for a backup head. Our lead guitarist uses an Orange combo and it's awesome, so i might be persuaded. Will the colour clash with my Schroeder cab? Quote
bass_ferret Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 When are they going to do some lightweight cabs to go with it? Could get some Dr Bass with orange grills I suppose. Quote
thumbo Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 I'm a little skeptical about Orange using digital power stages in amps. We'll have to see what the Bass Terror sounds like. They've also just announced that they're releasing a couple of cool guitar amps too. - Dual Terror: a 30 watt, 2 channel Tiny Terror - Tiny Terror Hard Wired Edition (a British-made, hi-spec Tiny Terror) I seem to remember there's a few people on here that use Tiny Terrors for their guitaring ways. I've been using one for a couple of years and it's been an awesome bit of kit so I'm quite excited about these two guitar-based things. Quote
attackbass Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 What I would like to see - altho it's probably not totally viable due to weight and space - but a dual channel bass head with an ad200b but with the added preamp from the thunderverb 200 or from the tiny terror guitar head.. it'll never happen but i think it would sound like a monster. The only time I've heard of these cutting out is when faced with too low an impedance. Quote
Tee Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Nice! Would look great on top of my Orange AD200B I'd like to have a closer look though. Quote
GreeneKing Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 A back to front panel and FX and DI on the side Quote

William James Easton Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 nothing about this on the orange site. anybody know when it'll be out? the more i look at it the more i want one. 4 kgs! im off work with a bad back so i may have to join the light weight crew! just hope it produces something like the orange sound. at a push my favourite sounding bass and guitar amps. Quote
eude Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 This looks really cool! I love the idea behind it at least, whether or not the quality is there though is another thing though. I'd love a small lowish powered affordable all valve amp but there doesn't seem to be anything on the market. The closest thing I've ever seen with the old Trace Elliot Twin Valve head and that Ampeg one from a while back, but they seem to be as rarer a rocking horse poop now... Cheers, Eude Quote
basswesty Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Has anyone found anything else out about these like are there speakon or jack speaker outs on the back. I can't find a thing... Quote
Tee Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Yes, there is a speakon jack at the back. Quote

thumbo Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 I don't think these will be out for a couple of months yet. I can probably get hold of a rough release date though, I'll post it here if I do. Quote

I think that sounds a good price if they're any good. Quote

umcoo Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 MMnn promenade is just down the road from me. I might check it out at the weekend and see if anything's in yet. I kinda doubt it though. They usually have some orange guitar gear in though Quote
