by Jarred Cooper - if so my claim to fame is I played bass for him on a UK tour in the late 90s... and almost killed him when I lost control of my little Rover Metro on a roundabout 😞 !

Indeed, by Jarred Cooper!

My church cannot accommodate the number of people who attend every Sunday so we are planning to move to a larger building.  In the meantime we have gone to two morning services - 9.15 and 11.15am.  Both services are getting pretty full!  We now have four bands to cater for the increase in services.  There are two bands who take turns to play at the early meeting and two more at the later gathering.  I now play every other week at the 11.15 service and we need to have a mid-week rehearsal because it is impossible on a Sunday morning as the people of the first meeting mingle with the later arrivals and chat over tea and cake!

I must say I'm enjoying playing more often and can already feel my ability increasing.  Our band does not have a drummer at the moment (he is on honeymoon) so it is up to me to keep everyone in time.  That means hitting the root notes and providing a good foundation for the other band members to build on.  The mid-week rehearsal (Friday evening) is also a good time to socialise with the rest of the band and try out new arrangements.  The only problem with playing at the second meeting is that I can enjoy some tea and cake at the start and the end - not good for the figure!

A lovely problem to have! Sometimes at our church if you count up the priest, attendants, band and choir there are more of use than congregation  :(

I switch to Cajon when there isn't a drummer as can't stand playing bass without drums as to me it gets all mushy - what instruments do you have?

It varies from band to band but generally; keyboard, acoustic/electric guitar, drums, violin, mandolin, flute, oboe, bass and vocals of course.  We didn't have drums as our drummer was on his honeymoon in the Philippines (he's from there).  Not all the instruments are available every week so it can be mix and match.

This statement may be true, but I can't imagine any circumstances when I would wear this garment.

Unless it says on the back 'He wishes I wouldn't"

...I might not be best placed to comment on the T-shirts as have often tried to go the other way - what can I get away with (Iron Maiden?) before someone makes me wear a jumper!

I also went through a phase of trying to buy the most church in-appropriately named pedals - I still use the Big Muff but did once have a Damage Control "Womanizer", and have been tempted with a Way Huge Swollen Pickle...

Enjoyed the following this morning:

Lion and the Lamb

Trust in God

Oceans (Where Feet May Fail) into chorus of Everlasting God

Greater than it All

..and paired the mini Aguillar head with the two TE (name badges removed) cabs which gave me a satisfying growl. Pretty much just used the compressor + blue channel on the Genzler for both fretless (first two songs) and fretted (last three). Someone did, however, come up to me afterwards and ask why on earth a bass player needed so many pedals - it is true four went unused today!

I had someone the other week suggest I didn't know what half of them were doing the other week - considering I'ld built half of them myself I figured the best thing to do was a full on pedalboard rundown with him...

Mind you I took my pedalboard appart on Friday .... forgetting I was playing this Sunday, so a simple tuner-octave-drive-chorus-colourbox setup this week.

I always thought it was mathematically challenged.
“The godhead 3 in 1, father, spirit, son, the lion & the lamb”.
I’m pretty sure that’s 5 in 1. 😂

thats a different song, but it's worse than that - don't they repeat the lion and the lamb bit? Doesn't that make it two lions and two lambs?

So it was, that was “How grate is our god”.  🤣

Yes, it does indeed.  7 in 1 it is then.

Isn’t there a pixies song that explains it?

Rinsing on this amazing song by Elevation Worship called New Thing Coming. Just having fun with bassline ideas as we will be playing it this Sunday. My best bud Joseph Kristoffer on the guitars mixed it nicely too! Met him in Every Nation London few years ago and he's one of the finest guitarist I've known and had the honour to play with. He teaches me alot about recording/mixing, theories, encourages me on being better in my instrument, as a musician and as a Christian. Lastly we GAS together lol We serve together in church and we do occassional jams like this when we are both on the same rota

Love how It echoes the scripture of Isaiah 43:19, where God declares, "See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland." This song, like the verse, speaks of a divine shift, a spiritual awakening, and the promise of a new beginning.
