TheGreek
How about using an Ashbory? I play mine in a blues band for acoustic sessions.
Got to agree with this man - Ashbury's have the sound you're after without any of the messing about. Also you can pick one up for less than £200 on eBay ( I can't believe that I'm recommending eBay!!! ) with a spare set of strings, bag, etc. However they do take a bit of getting used to..tiny little frets...but it may be worth the effort if this is the sound you're after. Maybe a BCer will lend you one or allow you to try theirs... If you're in Herts/North London give me a PM for a tester..
Chris2112
Buy a double bass! In all seriousness, I'd be looking at Pyramid flats and some right hand near the neck action. I'm not sure mutes are needed in the grand scheme of things.
Faithless
Use your thumb and mute the strings with your palm. Or, if you're too lazy, something like this may also work... : http://plixi.com/p/64035135
Truckstop
I'm actually trying to find a set of mutes to fit to the Jazz, but all I can find is a set of 4 from Allparts for £30 but there's no picture and I'm not sure if they're the ones I'm thinking of! Anyone know where I can get a set? Truckstop
