smurfitt
Hi, i have Alto Tourmax SXM112A Active Stage Monitors which are birch plywood and textured. Over time the paint has been scuffed off the cabinets so they are looking a bit scruffy. I would like to tart them up. Could anyone advise what paint to use. Thanks in advance

BassBunny
I have used Warnex Structure Paint in the past and I believe this is the stuff HK Audio use for their cabinets. Works a treat tarting scruffy cabs up and our guitarist, who also runs a PA Hire Company, uses it to keep his kit looking nice and fresh. They do a "pro" version now as well - apparently tougher, but with a slightly different finish. All of these finishes are easy to apply with a 4" roller. Blue Aran do a roller that will get a nice finish. If it is to cover an existing finish, I would be sure to give it a light sanding and then clean well to get rid of grease and gunge to make sure that the new finish can adhere well. Have a look through the "Stevie’s 12” FRFR Cab Build Thread" for some pics and advice on using Tuffcab. stevie
I used Tuffcab to smarten up a couple of PA cabs I'm selling on Ebay. I got a good result with just a single coat using the recommended foam roller, although a second coat would no doubt have been even better. Judge for yourself. Phil Starr
Looks Like the Warnex and the Tuff Cab are very similar, Tuffcab is cheaper at the moment.
stevie
Tuffcab is also easier to get hold of in the UK.
songofthewind
Tuffcab is like Artex for the bass playing fraternity. 1
