budget bassist
like i say, i got by with 180W of power playing in drop C, some extra headroom would have been nice, but i'm more after tone than power right now, so paying another £100 for 500W more power doesn't make a great deal of sense in my situation. johnnylager
well, a compressor would be nice, and more than just a 3 band EQ, a 7 band graphic would be nice. That hartke just doesn't appeal to me that much...
Fair play. I have a growly bass with nice inherent tone, an excellent pedal compressor and a fuzz box for the fuzzy bits. I could never stop fiddling with the Peavey or ABM pre's I had and I always ended up tweaking this & tweaking that, looking for something else and trying some magic new combination of knobs & sliders which I was never satisfied with. I'm much happier with just bass, middle & treble to choose from. From the LH-500 thread, it seems everyone is using the same settings of 7, 5 & 2! I'm not even using the MicroBass anymore, waste of money that was. Horses for courses.
Hmm yeah i do see your point, though i think 1000W is a bit excessive, i used 180W on stage with no problems at all, i can't see how you could use 1000W of power without being a pro on a HUGE stage. Plus i'd be scared of blowing my speakers!
I thought about the 500w version [and a bunch of other amps too], but I just wanted to keep it simple & 'future-proof' myself. You can never have too much headroom either. Good luck in your quest.

budget bassist
Yeah, i do see your point. The thing is, i'd like to go and try some stuff, but barely any shops stock good amps.
