fretmeister Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 (edited) And the Helix main main Eric noticed.... If they are going into hardware this might cost me a fortune! Edited January 10, 2020 by fretmeister Quote
Bigwan Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 Damn it... As I pointed out in the other thread, I should have hmmed and hahed over an HX Stomp a little longer. Not that it's a bad unit, far from it! But... GAS... Quote
Cuzzie Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 It’ll probably be the same weight as their first cabs they brought out so you can hold off till the second release 2 Quote
ordep Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 (edited) https://guitar.com/news/neural-dsp-quad-cortex-modeller-multi-effects-namm-2020/ its a Kemplix. 😀 Edited January 10, 2020 by ordep 2 Quote
Bigwan Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 Looks and sounds expensive... But VERY interesting all the same! Quote
fretmeister Posted January 10, 2020 Author Posted January 10, 2020 Can't wait to know more about it! Looks great - and 4 rigs simultaneously! That's what I love! Quote
fretmeister Posted January 10, 2020 Author Posted January 10, 2020 Side vent... Hot running? Or a built in Class D? Quote
nige1968 Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 Could someone explain to the ignorant dunderheads out here what this actually is in simple terms? Multi FX? Plugin-type-thing? Preamp? Quote

Multi FX? Plugin-type-thing? Preamp? A competitor to Helix / Kemper / Fractal units. Amp and cab sims, FX, can be used as a posh FX box or as a preamp direct for recording or into a PA or a power amp and traditional speakers. From the limited info so far - the amp and cab sims are likely to be based on NeuralDSP's own plugins but in a stage friendly format. NeuralDSP is owned by Doug Castro - the man also behind Darkglass so I imagine that bass will be catered for quite a bit - unlike some other modellers who seems to treat it as an afterthought. It also claims to be a profiler like the Kemper - so you record your real amp into the unit, and then the unit saves that "profile" - effectively creating a new amp sim that you can tweak from there. Hire an unaffordable amp - profile it, and keep the sounds forever. Can't wait to try one! 2 1 Quote
CameronJ Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 This does look incredibly interesting. To the sharper-eyed among us, you may notice a distinct absence of knobs - well apparently the footswitches have rotary encoders built into them! Pretty cool bit of design there, especially if they prove to be durable and reliable enough. Quote

Owen Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 (edited) I am only uh-oh-ing because I have wondered about profiling before but the everything looked so .................... something. This looks small and tidy. Edited January 10, 2020 by owen 1 Quote

CameronJ Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 (edited) Sweet baby Jesus. That does look good. The mobile connectivity side of things has me particularly interested. Easy mobile backup and sharing of presets without having to connect to a PC is a massive boon. They’ve taken a good leaf out of Source Audio’s book in that regard. I suspect one of these may be in my future! Edited January 10, 2020 by CameronJ 1 Quote
fretmeister Posted January 10, 2020 Author Posted January 10, 2020 Rumours are 1500 Euro. So a bit more than a Helix, but loads less than Fractal. I need to start selling stuff. Mind you I doubt it will reach the shops until September at the earliest. Quote
Cuzzie Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 It’s not loads less than a Fractal FM3, which is the natural like for like. They are between $999 - 1399 depending on whether it’s merchant or direct 1 Quote
Cuzzie Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 I genuinely hate those videos and that style, however what functionality it shows and it’s make up etc. It does look a nice piece of kit Quote
Davebassics Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 So it's not a helix stomp competitor then Quote

Bit like comparing a Stomp with a Boss MS-60B methinks. Another recent review, this time by Premier Guitar: https://www.premierguitar.com/articles/29838-neural-dsp-introduces-the-quad-cortex Quote
