SG-Rossignol
hi can any one tell me what a 'bass chorus' pedal does and how it makes a bass sound? i would like to know if its a worthwhile investment for a rock/metal sound? thanks in advance! Al Heeley
oh my, thats a hard question to answer if you don't know what a chorus effect sounds like. Best way to describe it is to list some famous bass lines that use the chorus effect, then you know what the sound is like. Erm....Nirvana - Come As You Are uses a fairly deep and quick chorus effect with a bit of reverb, sounds metallic, swirly, hard to put into words, listen to the song and you'll know

SG-Rossignol
It adds several voices of your bass to the original one and fluctuates their pitch at a chosen rate so that you can perceive them as a 'chorus' of basses (if they were all the same pitch it would just sound louder). bobbass4k
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Tja6_h4lT6A - pretty much that, but that sound isnt entirely chorus, he has quite a trebly middy sound anyway (not sure if he plays with a pick on this one too), but thats a pretty good example Edited January 27, 2009 by bobbass4k

JJTee
Do a search for You Could Be Mine by Guns n Roses. Some fairly heavy chorus effect on Duff's bass.

GreeneKing
I had to smile as I too was going to give 'Come as you are' as an example. EH Small clone I believe and one of my favourite chorus pedals, very rich. Noisyjon
I like, use & recommend the Boss Bass Chorus. It lets you set how much of the signal is effected on one of the knobs, which gives you great control over how much of the chorus effect is actually mixed with your bass's signal. Regards, JTB. Boss BF-2 for flanger and a CE-5 for chorus. IMO JC's chorus is a bit more subtle than the sound on 46 & 2. All in all though, the two still sound fairly close to me. Paul D'Amour's chorus on the Opiate EP stands out a bit more I reckon. No idea what he used though, I don't think CE-5's were out then. He only used the Poly Chorus on Scentless Apprentice, Heart Shaped Box and Radio Friendly Unit Shifter. At least according to this site anyway - http://www.kurtsequipment.com/effectspage.htm I really wanna try to recreate something similar to the RFUS intro on bass. Gotta get me one of those pedalboard hogs one day. Edited January 29, 2009 by redzombie
EBS_freak
http://www.ebssweden.com/2007/unichorus.htm Check the sound samples for bass and chorus. EBS one is really nice in stereo... not that anybody realistically runs a stereo rig...
