Chopthebass
After completing my Jazz inspired Jazz 5, I have just picked up another build. Similar spec, except Cottonwood Burl over Alder, Lollar pickups and possibly passive. Gold Hipshot hardware, headphone amp, rosewood or wenge fingerboard. I'm looking forward to seeing the top with a hint of green stain. The top has been glues to the alder, body shaped, and jazz pickup cavities routed. I just filled all the small voids with tinted resin.
Pea Turgh
That grain looks fantastic - I can imagine how it will look when the finish is on. Gold and green too - nice! Edited January 9, 2020 by Pea Turgh

Chopthebass
I was going to go green, but decided on a crazy orange! I will probably sand back a little. Just got to make a neck now.

songofthewind
The orange looks great with the burl. Ten out of ten!
Chopthebass
Sanded back the orange a bit, as I wanted more burl visible. Started roughing the maple neck. The Birdseye fingerboard will have binding and blocks

The Birdseye fingerboard will have binding and blocks I'm normally a nailed-on sucker for binding and blocks, but I'm not actually sure that needs it. The body is awesome and that board looks great as it is, imo. Edited February 12, 2020 by Simon.
Chopthebass
simon I’ll probably mock it up and see how it looks with and without. But you could be right!
Chopthebass
I decided against blocks. Instead I have brass tube with orange glittery resin. Binding glued on too.

Chopthebass
Thanks guys. I pre-finished the fingerboard, pre-polished the frets before pressing them in. I will polish again after levelling.
