Toasted Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 (edited) Soon to be joined by a Sadowsky Modern 5/24. This is 2006 Celinder J-update 4. It's just over 8lbs and is built for slapping, but sounds great with my primary techniques - fingerstyle/tapping. It's a special bass to me because my whole family and all my friends clubbed together and bought it for me for my 21st birthday. Edited January 27, 2009 by Toasted Quote
Noisyjon Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 WOW - Very nice! Is it a new or used one Toasted? Quote
Toasted Posted January 27, 2009 Author Posted January 27, 2009 (edited) I am the first owner. I custom ordered it in April 2006 and took delivery in July 2006 (!) from Celinder through Martin and Alex @ The Bass Gallery, London. Joe. Edited January 27, 2009 by Toasted Quote
niceguyhomer Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Lovely bass this and bloody hell Joe, you went ahead and ordered the Sadowsky - nice one If all goes well, I might be after a Sadowsky myself soon. Quote
Toasted Posted January 27, 2009 Author Posted January 27, 2009 Do it Alan! I think the one you order might be significantly different from the one I have en-route Quote
Marcus Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Man that's nice....... surely a keeper !!! Quote

I remember playing a similar one to that a while back (Flanker bought it - don't know who has it now). The nicest 4 string jazz bass I've ever played. Something about the Celinder neck just screams 'fondle me'! Someday I'll have one... couldn't afford a Squier at the minute! Quote
Dread Bass Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Thats pretty much the perfect bass right there. Although personally i prefer black hardware. U must be getting pretty excited about the Sadowsky now. Quote
Toasted Posted January 28, 2009 Author Posted January 28, 2009 Thanks for the kind comments guys, it really is a good good bass. Quote
wayne58 Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Very nice Joe, look forward to seeing your Sadowsky and I know someone else with a Dalek signature who is a fan too. Quote
Toasted Posted January 28, 2009 Author Posted January 28, 2009 I just got Sadowsky photos this morning and posted them in my Build thread. It looks lovely. Quote
bass_ferret Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Black is the new black. As for the hardware its not so stealth with a maple neck. Now a fretless ebony neck..... Quote
lozbass Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Gorgeous - you clearly have generous friends and family! Quote
wombatboter Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 I bought a Sadowsky MV24 5 string two years ago for a really good price (around 1100 euros) but I wasn't pleased with it. I sold it after two months. The neck just felt "stiff", I couldn't bend the strings easily and how hard I worked with the controls, the sound remained boomy and artificial. I found it to be a rock-bass instead of a funkybass. I understand why Metallica's Newstedt uses it. I have tried out three Sadowsky basses so far but I think my Celinder J4 is a lot better in every way. Every bassplayer who has tried it out so far is floored by it and can't believe how easy it plays. It's like you don't have to put pressure on your fingers to achieve a great sound. It's the most reponsive bass I have ever played. It was a great day when I decided to buy it from CrazyKiwi. Enjoy your basses ! Quote
urb Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Lush bass!!! (as they say in the West Country) Nice one... one of my fave J bass designs ever - so playable too. M Quote
Flanker Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 It's the lightest one I've heard of too - the only thing that puts me off Celinders is the weight - getting puny in my old age! Mind you the Precisions I had were light, but never played or seen a lighweight jazz. Fantastic basses! Quote

I feel very luck. Here's a shot of her chilling by a tree: Quote
