Are any of you Reggae Bass players using a P Bass?

I guess anything goes and most Basses with flats followed by some EQ and the right Amp/Cabs can sound right for Reggae with the right player but I'm just wondering if there's any particular reason that such a ubiquitous Bass for over 70 years doesn't seem to have been used by hardly any Reggae Bassists. Alpha and Omega being the only exception I've noticed.

I tried a few P's the other day and they sounded good for Reggae/Dub withthe tone rolled back, a bit more 'thumpy' in the low-mids than a Jazz, and I think I prefer the feel of a P Bass neck in a 4 string (probably as I'm used to fat 5 string necks) so I might do a bit more investigating.

My precision was my go to bass for years with labella flats, simple to eq and a great sound,  but then I got the jazz bass bug and didn’t use my P for about 5 years, at the moment I switch between both, what I find with the jazz is i can get a deeper fatter more rounded sound than I can the P, but saying that  I’m currently looking for a 68-74 precision 😁, I’ve seen footage of Aston Barrett using  a P but that might have been before he got the jazz

Here's a list of classic riddims I'm gradually adding to and putting on a Spotify playlist

I've mostly stuck to ones with a Bass Guitar rather than digital basslines, most are the original versions but not all.

Any other well recycled classics you reckon should be added?

I'll get to 100 and will leave it at that otherwise madness will ensue! (I've also got sub-lists of quite a few of these in my mp3 files where I have different versions, useful for DJing when you just have to pull up Sleng Teng riddim 5 times with a different version each time!).

Vin tried this at the Carib - nearly got thrown out of the window above the Cricklewood Broadway club - I did it with about 3 dub versions of Al Greens 'Love & happiness' - the pint tankard missed my head by about an inch & left a forever dent in the wall ........be warned !!

I don’t know if this has happened to anyone before, but I was going through some Michael palmer tunes and came across this one , I know the song very well but the strange thing is that this vinyl used to be mine, it’s my writing and I used to write  my name on every record I bought, seemed odd seeing it
