If like me you like African Head Charge then this is worth a listen, Barry Dread on bass here who also does a lot of his own stuff , nice bit of playing by drum and bass at 17.50

Nice. I've got tickets to see African Head Charge in May, looking forward to it.

I'm off to see Steel Pulse this week, supported by The Selecter.

Can't wait to see this again live:

I was checking out Steel Pulse on YouTube yesterday, never knew anything by them before but what I heard I liked.

Great discovery Lozz, they are a very good band and have a certain style I’d say, you probably have heard some of their earlier stuff, they had an album out in around 78 called Handsworth Revolution which was pretty big, the bass player then was Ronald McQueen who Was quite a technical player I’d say, it’s worth a listen if you haven’t already, I like this track

...called Handsworth Revolution...

One of the greatest reggae albums of all time, kind of set the benchmark for British reggae. I'd say Handsworth Revolution and Forces of Victory by Linton Kwesi Johnson are two of the very best...

I like that @Reggaebass, think I’ll get myself a copy of the album

Just had a look on eBay - seems out of print which is criminal!

Saw SP in Canada in 1981 supported by Leroy Sibbles. Great gig.

Yes, I was there! Its literally been decades since I last saw them live. And I had no idea they were celebrating their 50th anniversary.

As there are already numerous Steel Pulse tunes posted here (and it is Dancehall Friday after all 😜 ) I gonna big up Cocoa Tea. I had no idea he passed away, and in between Selecter and Steel Pulse the DJ played tune after tune of Cocoa Tea. My personal favourite collab is 'Pirates Anthem', but I'll just enjoy his vibes solo this time...

Ah heck, take Pirates Anthem too...I just love this song

Thanks for that Tony, solid gold vid.

I've never been down the Flabba rabbit hole. A new seam to mine. Cheers for the signpost 👊

Great stuff, you can definitely go down a rabbit hole with Flabba, he’s played on so many tracks it’s unbelievable, there’s not many reggae artists that the Roots Radics haven’t backed at some time or other (especially Gregory Isaacs) , definitely in my top 3 favourite players,

love a bit of Tubby too, one of the first albums I bought was King ,Tubbys Meets Rockers Uptown, and I think I’ve still got it somewhere , it’s great to give that a listen every now and again
