After a fairly decent start to building basses ( I’ve actually sold one, the walnut P to @Tullfan ) I’ve had a hankering to do more. So, this time I’m using swamp ash for the bodies as both will be painted.

Bass 1 - All black stealth looking P Bass, Status Neck and CS ‘62 pups.

Bass 2 - Lake Placid Blue, matching headstock and again CS ‘62 pups.

Both keepers and for specific band projects so they are needed. I’ve always wanted a LPB 😍 These are being painted properly by Dave Wilson who is unbelievably brilliant at all things bass, especially painting.

Im sure I’ll be back on for more hints and tips. Anyway, a few bits of where I’m up to now.

Surely the sofa shot is for the end when they’re finished?  That last shot is like walking in on the mrs shaving her legs with the curlers in and no makeup on!

😂😂 true! I should’ve waited 😂😂

You should get a map 😉 Yeah that was in my thinking when I decided I needed a stealth looking bass. When the neck came up on here it was a no brainer. David Wilson painting it properly for me too as I think it deserves it and he’s bloody excellent 🤘

Sorry for another post, but if at all you think you may relic be it accidental or by choice, staining the body would before the stealth finish is a decent idea, then it comes through aged as opposed to bright, unless you want that

Nice - I really like it.

I have a P on that Jazz and a Jazz on my P.
These are 3 I have built, you’ll see what I mean about staining first on Goldie5706BE94-9F1D-4495-9697-256ADF7379CD.thumb.jpeg.ab635cca1b090d5d99e37fb5901ad249.jpegE14EA0DB-DC6D-47AE-85FA-19421C7F8AA7.thumb.jpeg.a4de5a4203acbf924eba8a7679cf6613.jpeg

Like you I have the bass building bug - waaaaaay cheaper and you get exactly what you want.

Problem is I want to keep them all, and should probably move some on.

You have stellar projects too!
