Tascam US-122 teething problems

Or more accurately 'why the f*ck won't this work'!

I'm trying to record some sound-clips for a fellow BCer so that they can hear my Parker Fly (for about 3 freakin' weeks) however this Tascam is having none of it... and I mean nothing!

I installed the software, rebooted then plugged in the unit via USB (front and back of the PC) and I can't even access any VDU on the PC as the only interface I can find is the bloody tuner (which works, so I know I'm connected). Nothing in programmes, nowt in control panel (other than uninstall, which I've tried), nadda in My Computer. Is this hiding away in some strange directory that I can't access? The CD manual gives nothing away.

I really am getting to the point where I'm becoming paranoid about PCs and installing stuff (hence my ask in 'off topic' about routers).

Which audio programme are you using with the Tascam? It should appear as a audio in device on any audio track, you may have to select it in preferences.

It came as a bundle with Gigastudio 24!

However running this doesn't appear to let me record, it gives a message that this is a feature only available to the higher spec product (so what's the point I ask).

Are you aware of any a free/shareware products that will let me record?

Every month Computor music gives away a free Daw,plugs and a sampler....
I know plenty of folks who use it...and say its great..
And very easy to use......

Have you tried installing/reinstalling the drivers? It worked for me when I ran into problems with my US 122.

Cheers guys, I think I need to source a decent piece of software (rather than the supplied gigastudio 24) before I blame the Tascam. I may well try some of the free/shareware with various magazines.

Hi mate,

If you are up for spending about £50 on a M-Audio USB Midi keyboard you get free with it 'Ableton Live Lite 6' which I use, and I really like it. I did have another CD which I got with something else - I sent it to Toasted I think so you can track it down. You might be able to download it from somewhere free though.

I have mine working perfectly in XP with cubase studio 4.

If you're using XP and need to do a clean reinstall, there's doc here: [url="http://www.tascam.com/details;8,15,68,19.html"]http://www.tascam.com/details;8,15,68,19.html[/url] clean Uninstall of the US-122 on Windows 2000 / XP (download) that might help along with the latest drivers.

It won't work in Vista though until new drivers come out. The XP drivers don't work.

Can you use the midi controller in Lite? I have heard that it doesn't respond to midi control messages..

You should have received Cubase LE in the box in addition to Gigastudio. I think that could be what you are looking for.
