Guest MoJo
Albert King & SRV ...would I be near the mark if I strung my P-bass with flatwound strings?
wateroftyne
Great tone! They sound like dead-ish rounds to me.. not flats.

Guest MoJo
Cheers. There ought to be a supplier of well played in round wound strings for all of us that don't aspire to be Mark King or Duff McKagan. I'll try the Chrome XL route and see how I get on

Guest MoJo
Don't you mean "relic'd" I've got loads of strings in my workshop that I've taken off my basses in the past but none of them have been "played in" so much as to have lost that characteristic roundwound brightness. I reckon you'd have to leave them on for a good couple of years before they sounded like the bass in the above link
